The court’s removal of the Tony Okocha-led caretaker committee on August 13 has been dismissed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as an ineffective move.
The party argued that the Rivers State Court does not possess the authority to nullify the dismissal of the Emeka Beke-led APC executive in Rivers State.
According to Chibuike Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Rivers APC caretaker committee, the ruling cannot supersede a previous decision made by the Supreme Court.
Ikenga stated that the Supreme Court’s ruling is transparent and reasonable, alleging that the judge and some of his associates are aligning their actions with the directives of the Rivers State government.
He stated, “It (sack) is an effort in futility. The reason is that the Supreme Court has made pronouncements and taken decisions as to issues that pertain to the internal affairs of a political party, which are justifiable before any court.
“Therefore, what we have seen was also a choreographed judgment, in the sense that the judge and a couple of his colleagues are dancing to the tune of the Rivers State government.”
“The judgment itself is a clear indication of those coalitions you have seen from haters of President Bola Tinubu and the move to take him out of power after losing the election serially in Rivers State.”
Ikenga also mentioned that the party will file an appeal in response to the recent court ruling.
