Reports: Yahaya Bello is under the protection of the Kogi state government

Date:

According to a recent report, Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, has been staying under the protection of the state government ever since he was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The report states that Yahaya Bello, who selected Ahmed Usman Ododo as his successor, has been receiving protection from state security agents after the EFCC’s failed attempt to arrest him.

The report from The Cable highlighted that the EFCC has issued a Red Notice to Interpol, the international police organization, regarding Bello.

This action was taken in response to a warrant of arrest issued by a federal high court in Abuja.

Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, is reportedly being protected by the state government after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) issued a warrant for his arrest.

The EFCC has also issued a Red Notice to Interpol, which allows for Bello’s arrest in most countries. The Red Notice signifies a global request for law enforcement agencies to locate and provisionally arrest him. Bello is wanted by the EFCC for his alleged involvement in a fraud case amounting to N80 billion.

Before the recent events, EFCC agents had surrounded Yahaya Bello’s house in Abuja to arrest him. However, during the siege, Ahmed Usman Ododo, Bello’s successor, arrived and reportedly helped Bello escape from being arrested.
