Senator Natasha calls on President Tinubu to mediate Wike-Fubara conflict

Date:

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi Central has urged President Bola Tinubu to step in and help resolve the growing political conflict between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

She expressed worry about the situation and cautioned that the tensions could have significant negative effects on both Rivers State and the country’s overall stability.

Akpoti-Uduaghan stated, “The situation in Rivers demands urgent attention, and I implore Mr President to take decisive action to prevent further escalation.”

She stressed that if the ongoing conflict is not addressed, it could weaken Nigeria’s democratic advancements and create a situation where violence and electoral misconduct thrive.

Akpoti-Uduaghan pointed out that the citizens of Rivers State chose Governor Fubara through a constitutional process and should be able to lead without disruptions. She called on President Tinubu to help keep Wike concentrated on his duties as FCT Minister.

According to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s official statement, the conflict has involved violence, intimidation, and accusations of electoral interference.

She thinks that Tinubu’s guidance could be crucial in calming the turmoil. “We cannot afford to watch as the crisis deepens,” she said highlighting the risk it poses to regional stability. She emphasized the significance of President Tinubu’s involvement in resolving this deadlock.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan wrapped up by calling on the President to ensure the safety of people and properties in Rivers State and to encourage peace.

She feels that taking action is vital to stop more disruption in Rivers State and to protect the democratic principles of the country.
