Seyi Awolowo Opens Up on hurtful childhood trauma with Father

Date:

Seyi Awolowo, a Nigerian reality TV star and actor, has shared a detailed account of his childhood experiences in Nigeria.

Notably, Seyi comes from a prominent family, being the grandson of the late Obafemi Awolowo, a renowned Nigerian statesman who served as the minister of finance, budget, and national planning until his passing in 1987.

He had shared his childhood story during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, a journalist and media personality, who had invited him to share his experiences and insights on his show.

He opened up about his difficult childhood, revealing that his father was emotionally and possibly physically abusive to him and his siblings, causing them harm and trauma through his harsh treatment.

Moreso, he shared that his father had disowned him on multiple occasions, and due to his family’s wealth and influential status as part of the Awolowo dynasty, people often assumed he didn’t require support or assistance, despite struggling with personal issues.

Seyi Awolowo’s father would sometimes cut him off financially, as evidenced by letters severing his allowances.

Despite his parents being together, his father’s polygamous relationships with three wives led to a complex and unfair environment for the children, who faced mistreatment and favoritism.

Recall that and Ilebaye had a highly publicized and intense conflict during their time on the BBNaija Allstars show, which stemmed from his behavior towards her.

The issue was later addressed by Big Brother, shedding light on the situation and confirming the mistreatment Ilebaye faced at Seyi’s hands.

Seyi Awolowo extended his apologies for his past behavior towards Ilebaye, not only during his time on the BBNaija Allstars show but also on Chude Jideonwo’s show, where he reiterated his remorse and sought forgiveness for his actions.

Seyi Awolowo acknowledged his wrongdoing and took complete ownership of his actions, refusing to attribute his behavior to alcohol or make excuses, and instead, showed accountability and maturity by accepting full responsibility for his mistakes.

Below are reactions;

Mike Edwards, a former BBNaija housemate and juror who had previously saved Seyi Awolowo from eviction, publicly disassociated himself from Seyi’s recent controversial remark, stating that he does not support or condone such behavior, and seemingly distancing himself from any potential backlash.

Futhermore, Tacha, a fellow BBNaija alum, responded to Mike Edwards’ statement with a blunt message, telling him to be quiet, which sparked a lively online discussion among fans and followers, generating significant buzz and attention.
