Born on September 14, 1988, in Cape Town, Shamilla earned her Bachelor’s degree in Live Performance and Film from AFDA – The School for the Creative Economy in 2009, which marked the start of her successful career, enchanting viewers with her performances in various acclaimed productions.

CAREER

Her introduction to the entertainment world came through theater, where she was mentored by David Kramer and Alfred Rietman.

She took on leading roles in plays like Krismas van Map Jacob’s (2009) and Baby (2010).

From 2011 to 2015, her talents shone in sitcom-style productions at the Artscape Theatre and the Grahamstown Festival, along with appearances in television commercials.

Shamilla made her film debut in the Hollywood hit Zulu, directed by Jérôme Salle, in 2013, and began her television career with roles in series like Amaza and Challenge SOS.

She continued to demonstrate her acting prowess in projects such as Forced Love and various short films, earning recognition including Best Actress at the Mzanzi Short Film Festival.

On an international level, she participated in the BET reality competition Top Actor Africa in 2016 and starred as “Nicola” in Sonskyn Beperk, directed by Maynard Kraak.

She went on to star in projects such as “Back to School Mom” and “Hooten and the Lady.”

After moving to Johannesburg, she appeared in popular South African series like “Isidingo,” “Z’bondiwe,” and the BBC drama “Troy: Fall of a City,” where she played the role of “Athena.”

In 2018, Miller featured in productions like “The Docket” and “Tali’s Wedding Diary,” both of which achieved remarkable success.

She continued to engage audiences in 2019 with performances in “Blood & Water” and “The Girl From St. Agnes,” the latter of which broke viewership records within just 24 hours.

Her recent projects include participating in SABC2’s “Comedy Mixtape” and portraying “Kelly Peterson” in the Netflix South Africa series “Dead Places.”
