EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Shane Patrick Hughes, who comes from a mixed-heritage family with a Coloured mother and an Irish father, was born on June 7, 1996, in Rabie Ridge, Johannesburg.
Following his parents’ separation when he was five years old, he resided with his father in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, but frequently visited his mother in Rabie Ridge.
During his time in Rabie Ridge, Shane acquired the nickname “Eagle” from a circle of friends, which he later adopted as part of his stage name.
He discovered his passion for rapping while in high school and recorded his first song at the age of 13 in a studio owned by a friend.
CAREER
After finishing high school, Shane Eagle participated in a rap reality competition called The Hustle, where he placed fourth.
This experience helped him gain a public image and a fan base.
In 2015, he released his first single called “Way Up,” which received positive airplay on South African radio stations.
He later became a presenter on a show called V Entertainment, but left before it underwent changes.
In 2016, Shane Eagle released several singles that were not part of an album through his own label, Eagle Entertainment.
He also had the opportunity to open for J Cole at the Castle Lite Unlocks concert.
Shane Eagle’s debut album, Yellow, was released on August 31, 2017. It was supported by the singles “Let It Flow” and “Need Me” featuring KLY.
The album achieved over one million streams on Apple Music in November 2017 and won the award for Best Hip Hop Album at the 24th South African Music Awards. “Let It Flow” was certified gold in September 2019.
In 2018, Shane Eagle went on The Yellow Tour, performing in four cities. He then released an EP called Never Grow Up in December 2018, which also received a gold certification.
In 2021, he released two singles titled “Ammo” featuring YoungstaCPT and “Skydream” featuring Redveil.
PERSONAL LIFE
Shane Eagle and his partner, Nicole Swartz, have been together for more than 8 years.
They decided to take their relationship to the next level by getting engaged in 2023.
In 2024, they celebrated the arrival of their first child, starting a new phase in their lives.
