Nigeria’s vice- president, Kashim Shettima has criticized the negative remarks about Nigeria made by the leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch.
On Monday, December 9, the vice president made this statement at the 10th Annual Migration Dialogue at the State House in Abuja.
He stated that Nigerian is still the giant of Africa and Nigerians are proud of her works in UK.
The vice president said, “Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the British Labour or Conservative Party. We are proud of her despite her efforts at denigrating her nation of origin.
“She is entitled to her own opinions; she has even every right to remove the Kemi from her name but that does not underscore the fact that the greatest black nation on earth is the nation called Nigeria.”
He added, “One out of every three, four black men is a Nigerian, and by 2050, Nigeria will support the United States and will be the third most populous nation on earth.”
He made this statement as a result of Kemi’ remark that Nigerian politicians are known for embezzlement of funds.
Several politicians including the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abika Dabiri-Erewa were upset regarding the remark of Kemi Badenoch about Nigeria. He tried to reach Kemi but to no avail.
