Tajudeen Abbas, the House of Representatives Speaker, has expressed deep concern about the recent flooding in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, calling it a tragedy.
The flooding, which occurred in the Kogin Mata and Tudun Muntsira, Chikaji areas of Sabon Gari due to heavy rainfall on Monday, caused extensive property damage and led to the displacement of many residents.
In a statement released by his media aide, Musa Krishi, Abbas extended his sympathies to the flood victims and expressed sadness that such a catastrophic event occurred when people are trying to maintain their livelihoods.
Abbas called “for urgent intervention to provide relief to those affected and urged residents to remain calm as the government works to alleviate their suffering.
The statement pointed out, “Specifically, the Speaker appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency to swiftly assist the flood victims during this critical period.”
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen urged residents in flood-affected and surrounding areas to exercise caution and adhere to guidelines from authorities to mitigate flood risks.
He also advocated for a unified approach to address the nationwide issue of flooding, emphasizing the need for collective action to combat this widespread problem.
