Stormzy, whose real name is Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr., was born on July 26, 1993, in Croydon, London.

Stormzy’s musical journey started when he was attending Stanley Tech in South Norwood.

It was there that he discovered his passion for rapping at the young age of 11.

Despite his lively personality, he also excelled academically and achieved remarkable grades in his GCSEs.

After finishing an apprenticeship and working in quality assurance, he decided to fully dedicate himself to his music career. 

CAREER

Stormzy initially gained recognition through his popular freestyle series called Wicked Skengman and his first EP, Dreamers Disease.

He achieved a significant milestone by being the first unsigned rapper to perform on Later… with Jools Holland and also won the Best Grime Act at the MOBO Awards.

He continued to collaborate with other artists and achieve success on the charts, particularly with his release “Shut Up” from the WickedSkengMan 4.

However, he took a break from the music scene after releasing “Scary” in 2016. In 2017, Stormzy made a remarkable comeback with his album Gang Signs & Prayer, which debuted at number one.

His historic headline performance at Glastonbury in 2019 as the first black British rapper to do so garnered significant attention.
