The Supreme Court is yet to issue a decision on the case filed by 16 state governments challenging the constitutionality of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other agencies.
The decision was made by the seven-member panel of justices, led by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji. The case was originally filed by the kogi State Government through its Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, sought to dispute the legality of the EFCC.
Other states that joined the co-plaintiffs include, Ondo, Edo, Oyo, Ogun, Nasarawa, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, Jigawa, Enugu, Benue, Anambra, Plateau, Cross-River and Niger.
Recently, Attorneys General of Anambra, Adamawa and Ebonyi have declared that they will no longer participate in the case.
