The Inspiring Ebonyi Farmer Defying the Odds with One Hand

In a world where adversity can either break or build a person, 24-year-old Nwankwo Friday from Akpurata Ibina Agbaja in Izzi LGA, Ebonyi State, stands as a beacon of resilience. Despite living with a physical disability, Nwankwo has become a viral sensation for farming with just one hand—a feat that many would consider impossible.

In an exclusive interview with NaijaTraffic News, Nwankwo shared his journey, explaining that farming is not just a necessity but his only means of survival. “The reason why I farm is because this is the only handwork and occupation that I have,” he said. His circumstances are challenging, yet Nwankwo chooses to work on other people’s farms, refusing to borrow or steal to sustain himself.

Born into a poor family, Nwankwo lost his mother when he was still in primary school, and he has been fending for himself ever since. “I come from a poor family, and I am the only person that takes care of myself,” he revealed. Yet, despite his hardships, he believes that his physical challenge serves a purpose. “There is a reason why God created me to be like this. I want to make my family proud and be a source of motivation to others with disabilities.”

Nwankwo’s aspirations go beyond farming. He dreams of furthering his education or learning a skill to improve his future. “My major aim now is to start school or learn a skill. My father once told me I would not go to school, but I told him that as far as God is in heaven, I must go to school and achieve my goal,” he shared with conviction.

His physical challenge became evident when he was just four years old, and he struggles with simple daily tasks like cooking. “I can wash clothes and eat, but I find it challenging to cook because I cannot slice onions or cut peppers,” he said. In his spare time, Nwankwo turns to his Bible or music to keep himself occupied.

As a message to others living with disabilities, Nwankwo encourages them to stay determined and focused. “I advise those with disabilities to take whatever they do seriously and be productive so that God will reward their hard work,” he stated.

Nwankwo Friday’s story is one of hope, determination, and courage. He reminds us that no matter the obstacles, with faith and persistence, one can rise above adversity and achieve greatness. His journey continues to inspire, not only those with disabilities but anyone facing life’s challenges.
