Thunder strike kills a 70-year-old man

A 70-year-old man known as Malam Abu Yusuf was killed by thunder strike.

This incident happened in Abocho, a community in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It was reported that it was during the intense rain that came with the lightening strike that killed the man on Thursday around 5:40pm.

Malam Abu Yusuf was known to be an Imam of the Angwa community. A resident, Dansoho Sulaiman, disclosed that Malam Abu Yusuf was healthy before the incident occurred.

He noted that this particular incident has never happened in their community.

He said, “There was heavy downpour in Abocho in the afternoon up to the evening. He was outside when suddenly thunder struck and killed him. 

“He fell and died immediately. This has never happened in Abocho, though we heard of such an incident in Anyigba years back.” 

The burial arrangements for Late Malam Abu Yusuf is still in preparation as at the time the information was reported yesterday evening.
