President Bola Tinubu has appointed Omolola Oloworaran as the new Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom) and Oluwaseun Faleye as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).
Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, announced these appointments on Saturday. He noted that Oloworaran’s appointment requires Senate confirmation, describing her as an experienced finance and banking expert.
“The President expects goal-oriented leadership to enhance efficiency and performance in the National Pension Commission, the key regulator of the Nigerian Pension Industry,” Ngelale stated.
In a separate announcement, Ngelale detailed Faleye’s background as a specialist in legal and corporate finance. He also announced the appointment of Mojisolaoluwa Alli-Macaulay as the Executive Director of Operations at NSITF. Alli-Macaulay is a former lawmaker and the past Chairperson of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs, Poverty Alleviation, and Job Creation.
Ngelale highlighted the President’s expectation for a comprehensive re-positioning of NSITF to improve social protection and service delivery for Nigerians.
In another appointment, Tinubu named Idris Ajimobi as his Senior Special Assistant on Livestock Development. This follows the inauguration of the presidential committee on livestock reforms and the creation of a new Ministry of Livestock Development.
“The President aims to leverage Nigeria’s agricultural potential, including animal husbandry, to foster sustainable economic growth, create jobs, and resolve conflicts between farmers and herders,” Ngelale said. “Efficient coordination and liaison in this sector are crucial.”
These announcements marked a record for the most statements issued by the State House in a single day.
