President Bola Tinubu has given the green light to rebuild the Wagga bridge that got damaged after a heavy rain.
Mohammed Goni, the Director-General of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), revealed this information while inspecting the collapsed bridge for the second time within two months in the Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
He stated, “We were here about two months ago when the first incident happened and we promised to fix up the problem, but unfortunately before actions could start this is the situation.
“And the damage has happened about three times now, the good thing about it is that President Tinubu has approved for the immediate reconstruction to ease the hardship people face on the road”
He also mentioned that because of the rain, construction on the bridge might not commence right away.
Nevertheless, he highlighted that alternative arrangements would be made to ensure smooth traffic flow on the route.
Goni stated, “As you can see now, people coming from Maiduguri have to stop over there, since we are here we will see what we can do.”
