On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu voiced significant concern regarding the flooding in various areas of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

He urged for the swift evacuation of residents in neighborhoods engulfed by floodwaters.

“While the responsible authorities continue to evaluate the damage inflicted by the flood, the President stresses the urgent need to evacuate individuals from the impacted regions,”

President Tinubu has voiced his concern about the severe flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State, which is experiencing its most devastating flood in recent years. The disaster has forced thousands of people to abandon their homes, now submerged in water.

The flood’s impact extends to critical government infrastructure, including the post office and Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, as well as a cemetery and a zoo, where wild animals are desperately seeking refuge.

Onanuga said, “President Tinubu extends his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the state, especially to the families that have lost their means of livelihood due to the disaster triggered by the overflow of the Alau Dam.

“President Tinubu assures Governor Babagana Zulum that the Federal Government is ready to collaborate to address the immediate humanitarian needs of the affected people.

“He has ordered the National Emergency Management Agency to assist the flood victims.”

The presidential aide assured that President Tinubu is dedicated to providing federal assistance to Borno State, leveraging all available resources to help the state navigate this challenging period.
