Tolulope Philips, Labour Party’s candidate for the House of Representatives in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency during the 2023 election, has switched sides and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He was officially received by PDP leaders, including Hon Ladi Adebutu, along with many of his loyal followers. Philips expressed dissatisfaction with his time in the Labour Party, citing a lack of progress as the main reason for his departure.
Philips noted, “I realized that my time in the Labour Party was not yielding the desired results. I am hopeful that my move to the PDP will bring about the change I desire.
“I am thrilled to be joining the PDP family. I am confident that this is the right decision for me and my supporters. I am grateful to my loyal supporters who have followed me to the PDP. I promise to work tirelessly to ensure that their trust in me is not misplaced.”
“I am confident that in 2027, the PDP will be victorious in the elections. I am eager to get started and make a meaningful impact in the lives of my constituents,” he pledged
Hon Ladi Adebutu warmly received Philips and encouraged him to direct his resources towards advancing the goals of the PDP.
He stated, “We will run PDP together in love till we get the goal. I advise Philips to stop wasting his money and join the PDP for progress. Imagine the number of votes he wasted in that election.
“We are delighted to have Tolulope Philips join our party. We are confident that PDP will emerge victorious in the 2027 election.”
