On-air personality Do2dtun marked Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1st by sharing his reflections on Instagram, commemorating the country’s 64th anniversary of gaining independence in 1960.
“What are we celebrating? The fume or the smoke? or the needles or the thorns ? or the depression or the tiredness?
The question is a resounding one that needs no answer cos the answer is already on our faces; in our tired hearts and hands. It bleeds yet we still need it to dig a soil you are not sure will give you oil of death or Gold.
It is time for a reality check. Things are very very hard and it has become a ripple effect where the next person have a prepared speech of blaming the person before him or her.
WHEN WILL THE BLAME GAMES END ??? WHO WILL JUST FIX IT AND NEVER WORRY ABOUT WHO DIDINT. WHEN WILL OUR TEARS BE WORTH MORE THAN THE PAIN ?
On a day like this; we can all go about our business, fly our flags and forget the focus by covering it with our clothes, jokes; non-Challant approach but you cant erase the pain of the hardship to our lives. We need to also learn to speak about our struggles and also do our part as citizens.
The problems might be enormous, but I believe it can’t fixed if our leaders put the people first over their emotions. May Nigeria be chosen for a miracle one day. We need it even more now.”
